Indian Dance Performance // Love and War
A Bharatanatyam solo by Rukmini Vijayakumar – a Raadha Kalpa Production
The evening is curated in two parts. It opens with three dancers from the Netherlands, each presenting a different Indian classical dance form: Kathak, Odissi and Kuchipudi. The second half belongs to Love and War, Rukmini Vijayakumar’s Bharatanatyam solo production.
In Love and War, emotion is distilled into pure physicality, and the story is suggested rather than told literally. The work moves from the quiet ache of longing and the complexities of infidelity to the playfulness of lovers’ quarrels and the joy of devoted partnership. The result is an honest, vibrant look at the many ways love shows up in our lives. Through the expressive language of Bharatanatyam, the performance bridges the divine and the human and offers a thoughtful reflection on the full spectrum of affection.
